It was actually one of the classics which shaped the generation of gamers to come. It first hit the market in 1972, talk about early! Pong was originally developed by a man named allan alcorn, as simply a training practice assigned to him by his boss. When his boss saw the game he immediately wanted to see it released for the Atari.
It soon became a big hit, and is actually the very first successful video game in the commercial market, which founded the whole gaming industry. How about that? Naturally, many others started copying the gameplay and releasing their own spins, in an attempt to get some share of the market. ![]() Check out 3D Pong Its actually a very simple game. Two paddles hit the ball back and forth, and your just trying to get the ball past the opponent, either a computer or human player. The two paddles return the ball back and forth. The score is kept by the numbers at the top of the screen. Pong is a two-dimensional sports game which simulates table tennis. The player controls an in-game paddle by moving it vertically across the left side of the screen, and can compete against either a computer controlled opponent or another player controlling a second paddle on the opposing side. Players use the paddles to hit a ball back and forth. The aim is for a player to earn more points than the opponent; points are earned when one fails to return the ball to the other. Not too complicated eh? One of the modern spins on the game came recently with the invention of 3D Pong. Its like the original took steroids and pumped itself up, and got ready for the big leagues. Its gotten lots of attention lately. |
